Bath Fitter Water Line Repair Review

These guys are the best! Months after they installed our bathroom.

We called them for a water leak in our living room. The ceiling was falling. They sent 2 guys out right away at 9 pm at night! They found that the leak was no fault of there's.

It was a water line going to the vanity in the bathroom. Even know the water leake was not there fault. They fixed our leak! With no charge to us!

They went above and beyond what was expected. They are outstanding!

Bath Fitter NIGHTMARE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Our Bath Fitter nightmare started in August, 2015. We hired them over the summer after meeting with a salesman.

We were very impressed with the product and the fact they could complete the job in one day. This was very appealing as we only have one shower for 6 people in our small home. We wanted a product that would last for the life of our home with what appeared to be a great warranty and be easy to clean. The sales guy told us that the shower wall would shrink slightly because we wanted a tile pattern so it would be just a little short.

He assured us the installer would add a piece of trim to fill in the gap. We were also extremely worried about caulk and did not want much. The sales guy told us the ONLY place there would be caulk would be where the seam of the tub met the wall. Otherwise, he said everything would be trimmed out with a decorative trim.

We signed and waited eagerly for the call. We couldn't wait to cover up our old porcelain tub and get new walls and fixtures. The young guy came to our home at the end of August. My husband met him at our home because we wanted to make sure that our shower curtain was hung at the appropriate height - the sales guy made a note for the installer to discuss this with us before starting the job.

The guy took all day and into the early evening. When I returned from work, he was on his way out the door. I went into the bathroom and was appalled by what I saw. Not only was the shower curtain way too high and looked ridiculous but it appeared that the guy had opened the caulk tube with a large knife and caulked huge beads of caulk (some more than an inch thick) around everything.

We even had caulk up the corners of the wall which were supposed to be seamless. But nothing prepared us for what he did at the top of the wall to fill in the gap. He had taken two pieces of acrylic and glued them up above with gobs of caulk. It looked like a 2 year old had done it.

There were black marks on the wall which appeared to be marks for cutting or drilling which would not come off. There was caulk on the ceiling and all over the walls surrounding the tub and shower wall. The man clearly did not know what he was doing. We also discovered that our tub drained VERY slowly no matter what we did.

I wanted to cry. I immediately got on their website and filed a complaint. We did not hear from them so my husband called a few days later. This call started a series of Bath Fitter employees that came to our house over the course of several months to try to fix the problem.

Each time someone came, my husband took off from work, came home, explained the problem, and got lots of nods and "oh we are so sorry" comments. They would assure us the problem would be taken care of immediately. They would pass along the complaint, call us to make an appointment to have it fixed, and then someone would come out to fix the problems. Every time Bath Fitter called to schedule an appt, the person had no idea what it was for.

We would have workers show up unprepared to do what needed to be done which meant we had to schedule yet another appointment. One guy came out to remove and recaulk the walls. He also cut the wall lower and replaced it with an ugly flat piece of acrylic. He had to stop when he discovered why the caulk had been put in the corners - the installer had marked the acrylic to bend it but forgot to clean the marks off before heating it thus melting the marks into the wall FOREVER.

He had tried to cover his awful workmanship. The guy who came to fix it stopped working after he had already spent hours removing caulk and said it all had to be ripped out and redone. This was in October. My bathroom sat like that until March 2016 - with caulk missing, pieces of acrylic wall hanging, etc.

We were so embarrassed that we would not allow family to come stay with us over the holidays. They claimed they were waiting for an experienced installer to do the job. They said we could just put a new wall over the old wall as they had done that in the past. We said we wanted it all ripped out as we did not know if the guy had made mistakes we could not see.

We had multiple people come and say they would be the one fixing the job and we would never see them again. Remember - each time these people came, my husband had to *** work to meet them at our home. In December (we insisted he come after work when both of us could be present), another guy came out and said he would fix the plumbing at no charge and would have someone repaint our bathroom since the walls had been so damaged from the install (we insisted they take care of this). He never showed up again or contacted us like he said he would.

Finally, in March, almost exactly 7 months from the original installation date, we had an "expert" come out and fix our bathroom. Of course, this time, it would take 2 days for them to fix it because of the tear out. I took a day off from work so I could stay home and watch every step. He again asked why we would not just glue the new wall over the old one.

We told him we wanted it all removed. He pushed on the wall before removing it and discovered it was not adhered properly (good thing we insisted on removal and not covering). He also showed us that the curtain rod was not installed properly and it was too high. When they removed the walls, he showed me that the guy had used too few adhesive strips and had not used the additional adhesive that is expected too.

He also showed me that the wall the second guy had attached was also not properly attached to the wall. He took care of the removal and the installation. He also took care of the plumbing for the drain. He wondered why it was not on the original order as the drain trap for the tub was not for a tub but for a sink.

He replaced this so our tub would drain. Finally, we had a tub and shower wall. We insisted they pay for the new paint for the bathroom and hire someone to paint. They had a guy who had done that type of work in the past come to our house to paint a couple weeks later.

When they called to schedule, true to Bath Fitter form, no one had communicated what needed to be done so they were only scheduling for 2 hours for paint touch up. My husband explained it was a full paint job, and it took several days for them to get back to us after checking to schedule the job. Of course, it didn't cover in one coat. We had to ask for the guy to come back.

Again, Bath Fitter had no idea what they were scheduling and scheduled some random guy who knew nothing about painting and showed up without any tools. We are still waiting for the room to be finished. It is now April.

This company is horrible. Their biggest problem is their lack of communication and their willingness to send out installers that are not fully trained.

They have no consistent message - everyone who came through our home had a different idea as to how it should be fixed. Bath Fitter should have put our home on a priority list and not completed any new installs in our area until ours was complete. We wish we would never have done this and could have our old tub back. And - easy cleaning - that's a joke.

We have to scrub the tub to get the soap *** off - Windex and vinegar does not cut it. Our old tub was easier to clean. One day install - that's the biggest joke of all. We have missed countless numbers of hours waiting at our home for them to come only to find out that they sent the wrong guy, no materials, no tools, insufficient information, etc.

They owe us money for violating their own contract. We want to be done with this mess and never ever see them again. Every time I see their commercials on tv, I just want to scream! They are expensive and misleading.

At this point, we just want our money back so we can put the money away when we have to hire someone to rip it all out when it fails in the future. We have no faith in their product or the people that run this company at all!!!!!

After spending $18,000 on three bathroom (yes I'm apparently ***), one leaked, damaged sub-flooring. Had one assessment from Bath-Fitters but apparently they did not like what the out-come was.

Sending out a second person (TBD). This room has been in limbo for over a month and now because of the 2nd assessment, probably another 3 weeks. Speaking with the initial sales contact to try and resolve the issue, at one point of the conversation he tried to say we were part for the delay! Very difficult to have calls returned.

We had a family member tell us to stay away from this company, from their past experience. I now suggest the same.

I called bath fitters and had got an appointment to have them to come out to give us an estimate on covering up our old tub and redoing just the area around the tub. The guy that came, not to mention any names, went into our bathroom and measured the tub area with a tape measure, not a laser tape like they advertise on television.

He sat down with us and discussed with my wife and I what they would do and give us a price. The sales man told us that it would be done in a day to a day and a half at the most. We both thought the price was too high but we both figured it would be quicker to have them do it than me doing it, even though I could have done it myself and done it cheaper than what they was charging us to do it and it still would have been faster just to have them to do it instead. So we both agreed upon it and give them a down payment.

On March 11, 2016 they came to our house to put the new wall and tub over the top of our existing tub. The wall was cut too long & bowed. Then come to find out, after spending most of the day at our home, the guy told us that he grabbed the wrong tub so he couldn’t complete the job. They told us that they would have to come back.

They came back the next day, spread this black primer “glue” all over our existing tub then found out the tub liner would not fit our existing tub. They said it would take at least a week to get the correct fitting one & they would have to tear out our existing tub. Since they had already tore out our shower doors we had to buy a shower curtain & mat to stand on since the “glue” was too sticky to stand on so we could shower with the black primer “glue”. So in other words we had to deal with this nasty looking tub for at least a week.

A week later they come back and brought the new tub liner to replace with our old tub, which they took out that day & had to take down the wall they had already done since they didn’t have the correct measurement to begin with. Not only did they have to change our tub out the 2nd time they came, they didn’t get the shower doors level. We found this out 24 hrs. later after we were able to use the shower again.

So a different guy come back to see what the problem was and come to find out that the other guy didn’t level the front of the tub up with the back so that made the shower doors slide forward. So the guy had to raise the track up so that the doors wouldn’t slide on their own, into which leaves a gap underneath it now and it looks like ***. They also scratched up our door trim & door trying to work the tub & wall into our bathroom. When I said they were scratching it they said they didn’t do it, it was already like that.

We were impressed with how well (like new) the wood trim looked for as old as the house is when we first looked at it to buy it. Not only that they didn’t clean up there mess in our yard either times. I had to clean it up myself. Just to make a long story short and to put it into words we are not happy at all with the outcome of the finished product.

So I hope that others will do their research before hiring this company to do a job for them. That is all I have to say.

Trim work turned colors

Had a white tub enclosure and wall installed. Window is in the shower.

All of the trim work and the caulking has become discolored over several years and turned tan. Looks terrible. I have described the problem succinctly in less than eighty words....not sure why you are required to have at least eighty words in the review that you list on-line.

It doesn't make much sense to me that it has to be eighty words. I guess I don't have eighty words yet so I am adding more words even though I described the problem in less than eighty words.

Watch out! First our contract had to be signed and submitted to the VA Administration for disabled vets.

Upon their review it was approved however they will only pay for approximately $1,600 in a life time for modifications to your home and we had to pay the rest. Supposedly once the signed contract is sent to the VA it can not be changed per Bath Fitters. Our bathroom was a half bath and the main wall behind it was a closet for a bedroom we were not using. All they had to do was take down the wall and move it for the shower to be place.

Our contract was signed for $700.00 for demolition, removal of old wall, and placement of new wall and shower. After approval, they backed out of the work to take out the wall and get rid of the old construction stating it was a load bearing wall. I knew that it definitely wasn't by the rafters in the basement. Bath Fitters brought his construction person to the house and even after looking in the basement, said it was still a load bearing wall.

Well then I stated if that that was the case they can still move the header two feet. Still no. Okay what if we found our own contractor to do it. A meeting between everyone was done at our home, the head guy talked around in circles hoping that no one would catch him.

I did. Well if you are getting paid for demolition then it needs to be deducted from the contract with them as the VA would send their check directly to them. Again I'm told the contract can not be changed. The contractor that we hired wanted $800 to do the all the work ( or so we thought).and we would have to pay him out of our pocket.

Bath Fitter agreed when they received their check. However there was never a signed agreement. Then we find out the contractor was only talking about the new wall. Guess who did the demolition, renting a dumpster, and paying to get rid of it!!

Me, the wife of a veteran!!! There was no loading bearing wall!! I even took pictures and sent it to Bath Fitters to show them that they were wrong. No reply.

The shower had been order immediately upon contract and approval by VA. Our contractor came in and did the wall. It took months to get Bath Fitters back here to put shower in place because they were to busy. Finally got it in after continually making phone calls.

The VA finally paid Bath Fitters their portion of which they were supposed to pay our contractor out of the money they received. Did he finally get the 800.00 that they said they would? *** no. He only received $500 and thus *** him off and never hearing the end of it there after.

Did we get a credit on the balanced for doing the work myself which was plaster and ceramic tiles, renting a dumpster, and paying to get rid of it? *** no!! We paid $5,000 additional dollars. Will never, ever recommend them to anyone.

Older people need to watch out as they probably will get taken advantage of. It has been a couple of years but everytime I take a shower or see the contractor who believes it's our fault I'm reminded of this ***. Can never get anymore money for handicap renovations to our home from the VA as the allowed amount was used. IS THIS ANY WAY TO TREAT A VETERIN?

Shame on Bath Fitters. Also watch out for the fact that standard shower curtains are 72" long. They drilled holes in the walls for the curtain rod. When I placed the standard shower curtain it was way to short allowing water to get on the bathroom floor.

Men know nothing about these things.

Everytime I have to replace the shower curtain I have to find one online and place a special order paying for shipping and handling as it is under a $10 item. Watch out for this too as it will haunt you for the life time of the shower!!

2 weeks after spending over 5 thousand dollars for a bath fitter installed tub, it is cracking around the drain. We emailed the photos and was told the cracks were clearly visable.

She said she would contact her manager (Pawel) 1 week later and we have heard nothing. Even called the salesman who said he would contact Cathy Leichliter. Same rep we emailed. We expected to speak with someone that would apologize and reschedule for a replacement.

Bath Fitter recieved over $5000 and we have a loan from the bank. I get the impression Bath Fitter does not care since they have been payed. Customer service does not exist.

We will file a complaint.

The commerial looked good on t.v. long ago the crew that came here must of been fresh out of junior high school, I myself gad to cut the floor out because they were so confused, ripped the floor putting in the tub so I used the kitchen floor they destroyed that to....another reason why they just walked out on me, (truth hurts) I was so dissatisfied with the job I called the office.

Over a year later I speek to tim and over frustration from the receptionist telling me mold on cocking grows from a dirty house like she's the one to judge, I ask for two minutes of his time~ nope not a chance he comes here with his side kick instead of quality greeting walks in with the attitude or maybe this is not there typical rich mansion. But it is my hoMe And walked out on me because they were not happy with the truth.... I payed a lot of money for this job my nefews could have done better and like the red lobster commercial you'll never get a plate of food that looks like it does on the tv screen these guys come in with no smile and definite incompantancy, I explain a few frustrations and they could not handle the truth , accuse me that that's not there shower rode & they tell me to get a contstruction crew here to fix the wall there crew pushed OUT moons ago and walked out of my house.... what a way to start my 40th birthday I ran out asking them for a piece of mind and they were not in to it and left.

I have pictures for hard working people to show you what you get, shower rod rusts. Fixtures are as cheep as you get and count on black mold from there choice of cocking.

I don't know if dollar genera l sells this stuff but its not worth the money go else where.. trust me!

Had a shower unit done by bath fitters in 2005

we had nothing but problems with your product the shower base cracker and it was replaced. the second shower base broke a crack about 2 ft.long on the side.

when you step on it in goes down about 1/2 in.when we called and spoke to rep who installed the units and would not replace the unit because we did not use the right cleaners.we use tilex cleaners with bleach or without bleach.your info memo says acrylic is none-porous.now he wants $1000.00 to replace this unit again.Iam pissed because the cleaning pro. should not cause it to brake i think it was installed without enough serport under it.If you make clames about your product you should stand buy it

Cracked liner

I had bath fitters install a liner in a tub.The liner in the tub now has 2 cracks in the liner.Bath fitters has came here a couple times to recalk this tub.I called and had a representive come and look and was told they would replace it.I called to see about having a walk in tub installed in my aunts house as she had a stroke and and asked when they were going to fix my tub and was told they would not as it was installed in an apartment, after they had repaired it more than once.In my opinion the liner is not installed properly as when I push on the crack with my finger the liner is not against the existing tub as when I push in on it water comes out of it.I was not told when they took my money and installed the liner that it would not be covered under the life time protection you state in all your adds.do to this decision by your company if you do not stand by that I am going to talk to a laywer and to chanel 7 eye witness news investigators.I am hoping you will reconcider this and hope to hear from you real soon.marvin dangler 180 franklin ave long branch NJ.
