Warranty

AI Highlights
  • Lifetime warranty covers only the acrylic.
  • Coverage is selective.
  • One star.
  • Most installers have limited training.

Make sure you read the lifetime warranty in the contract. It is only for the acrylic, nothing else.

The salespeople will tell you everything they install will be covered, but they pick and choose what they'll cover.

One star because they do actually make a decent product if it's installed correctly. Most of their installers have very limited training.

User's recommendation: Read the contract before purchase.

The worst company ever! They destroyed my home and won’t take any responsibility. Looking into legal counsel. They should fix what they have ruined. Shame on them. I’m 66 years old. They don’t care!

  • Licensed plumber docs show he caused it and they deny fault.

Bath Fitter installer, Mike, caused my bathtub to flood my house, destroying three rooms, including my 10-year-old granddaughter's bedroom. I have documentation to prove he caused it, from a licensed plumbing company.

They responded by saying it's not their fault. I'm stuck paying thousands of dollars rebuilding my home due to his mistake. How can they sleep at night knowing what they did to my family? This is heartbreaking and stressful.

It has changed who I am. Please don't use them!!

Warn others not to use this company

There is a common theme in this company: flooding people's homes. This happened to me, too. And has not been repaired.

User's recommendation: Avoid at all costs.

  • Shower upgrade over $5,000; poor workmanship.

They refuse to resolve the issue with my Bath Fitter Shower. This company should be ashamed of themselves! I'm a senior citizen, and don't like being ripped off

Original review Oct 18, 2024

I had Bath Fitter upgrade my shower (over $5,000). They did poor workmanship and refused to fix the problem.

I called a second time for a loose screw, and they came and tightened the screw at no charge. Just recently, the shower door has become loose, and Bath Fitter wants to charge me almost $200 to fix the problem.

I refused to pay them that outrageous amount since I have a so-called Lifetime warranty. This is not acceptable, and I am not happy that they treat their customers poorly!

User's recommendation: Stay Away !

Biggest Mistake I made

  • Sales rep promised accessories that never arrived.
  • Wrong shower door; sink and pipes changed without a work order; delays and poor service.
Original review updated Aug 15, 2024

Bathfitter did out bathroom about two years ago and we are having issues with them since. The sales rep lied telling us that he would give us a bunch of courtesy accessories, which never happened.

When they come to install, they brought the wrong shower door which we let go as we were fine with that. The installer change our sink and change the pipes which caused a big issue. For some reason, it was not included on their work order so we had to fix it ourselves. The shower had felt and broke twice.

First time they came and fixed, second time, we are here waiting for it to be fixed for almost 3 weeks and nothing. They sent a guy with the wrong part as if they don't know what we have installed.

Also, the customer service is HORRIBLE, I got yelled and ignored for just trying to get them to fix their horrible job. You need to be MAD to hire their services.

Complaint Details

Would I do business with Bath Fitter in Savannah, Georgia? ASBOLUTELY NOT!

A lady sales representative came to our house on May 14, 2024. I signed a three day Notice of Cancellation for a walk in shower. Sales representative reached out to a man to come by to check on measurements and then order supplies. I gave the gentleman and name of my neighbor and phone number to call on Monday to set up time to come to my house.

He didnt call my neighbor that week. Another week goes by and my husband and I decided to sell our house. At this point, no one has stop by to take measurements and order supplies. I called sales representative of the company we could have an exception to the rules because I was moving and no one called or stopped by for meansurements.

So at this point NO SUPPLIES HAVE BEEN ORDERED. The representative transferred me to another person, who transferred to another person, then another person. I explained my situation to four different employees. Then I spoke to the Customers Service Manager.

He then said he would have to take this situation to upper management. The manager said that the upper management declined my down payment refund of $3,699.00 but could use the amount on another install within the year. Im moving into a new house which doesnt need a new bathroom.

In conclusion, these companies do not even comply with their own contracts and these contracts are written for their benefit. Moral, hire an experienced local contractor in the neighborhood, you will get a better deal and savings.

I had bath fitter put me a shower in and removed the bathtub. The work is not done right.

I have nothing but problems with the seams coming loose on the bottom. I called and the customer service says the people to fix the problem only work in the morning. I get home from work at 2:30 pm and he tried to tell me nobody works at this time. Which is not true I had them out before in the afternoon.

I cant and will NOT take of work again for something it should not happen over and over again. i wish I read the reviews before I got Bath fitter and I paid $14.ooo FOR WHAT??

Very disappointed

AI Highlights
  • Tech promised a 48x36 shower, but beams behind the wall made it impossible.
  • Only $250 refund offered, and the customer remains unhappy.

When the tech came to measure our shower, as we wanted a new one put in, the tech told us he could make our current shower wider and longer, 48 by 36 inches, we were so excited, as our our older shower was 34x34. So we had agreed to this, and with all the new hardware, and shower ceiling.

When the installers showed up 4 months later, they tore the exciting shower out, and noticed we had beams behind it, which was something we told the tech who did all the new measurements, this could happen. With this being said, the install had to be put on hold. We were told Bath Fitter would have to order us a new smaller shower, and wait another 2 weeks. We called the office to see if what we had originally paid for, and was not able to be installed as it was too big, if our bill would be adjusted to reflect the smaller unit.

After much discussion over the phone, they would only reduce our bill by was $250.00, as they told us that Bath Fitter would have to absorb the cost of the larger one which was too big for our space. Again, we did not do the measurements, the head tech did those, but we still had to pay for it. With our smaller shower they did not have to hammer out the cement floor to put in a new drain in. When I told the employee Carol on the phone, that the $250 was not a sufficient refund, she then asked me what I thought I should receive, I told her $1,000.00, she then said NO, $250 was the best she could do.

Obviously, we are not happy with Bath Fitter, as Im sure the larger sized bath shower they measured, will be sold to another customer with no problem, but we still had to pay for their mistake.

Needless to say, we are very unhappy customers. We still feel we should be reimbursed for their mistake.

Horrible company

AI Highlights
  • Salesperson lied about terms and tub coverage.
  • We paid 1500 for three walls; now 2150 more.
  • They threaten a lien and harass with calls.

The salesman for the company is a LIAR. He showed us on his fancy little iPad what we had agreed to pay for but then deleted the part about covering our old tub, even after we discussed how we wanted it done.

We already paid 1500 dollars for them to cover 3 little walls, now they want another 2150, without doing the tub. Who in their right mind would agree to pay 3650 for 3 little walls? We could redo the entire bathroom for around 9000. Then the best part is, after we said we weren't willing to pay the balance, they immediately threatened to put a lien on our house and have been calling my wife's cell phone over 45 times in two days from unlisted/no caller id numbers.

It's harassment, but I wouldn't expect anything less from this terrible company. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS EXTORTIONIST COMPANY.

Cons:
  • Too many to list

Preferred solution: Price reduction

User's recommendation: Avoid this company at all cost.

Tim was very knowledgeable and efficient. He came early and worked.

Even at one point when our elevator had stopped working.- I am on 6th floor. Tim had to take a metal tub out and he did it piece by piece. The second day Michael came with him. Both were polite and explained everything.

They cleaned up afterwards. Pleased with the results.

  • Scheduled 4 pm tub-to-shower; no one arrived by 4:30.
  • They canceled, saying the first interaction was unprofessional and they chose another company.

Not sure where all of these good comments come from. I scheduled bath fitter appointment for 4 pm for a tub to shower conversion.

4 pm came and then 4:30 and no sales person. I called bath fitter to see if they were coming and of course I was not on the schedule. So now I get the so sorry speech and I can come another day. So unprofessional.

I told them that if this first interaction is how your company treats perspective clients I dont want your services. I cancelled. What a waste of my time.

Another company will get my money. Have a nice day.

No service on weekends

The faucet does not turn off. Shower has no turn off valve.

So must turn off water to bathroom for the rest of the weekend maybe longer. I will have to go to McDonalds to use the bathroom. No emergency service number. Understand parts are custom so calling a plumber may be a waste of time.

I thought this was a professional company. Who does not attach cut off valves?

Pros:
  • Fast install

Preferred solution: Service with cut off valves installed

User's recommendation: Make sure cut off valves are installed during the original installation and that there is an emergency number that can be called on weekends.

About

Summary

BATH FITTER has been North America's leading manufacturer of acrylic bathtub liners, tub surrounds, shower stall liners, and shower stall replacements since 1984. The idea for the organization originated when Brian Cotton was in the process of a frustrating bathroom remodel. Cottons goal was to create a long-term, sturdy bathtub liner solution that fit perfectly over old, worn bathtubs but offered more than short-term bathtub refinishing and bathtub resurfacing technologies. His brothers, Wayne and Glenn, helped him conduct research on the concept of tub liners before the first bathtub liners were produced in Montreal, Canada. Some of the companys first clients were the Sheraton Centre in Montreal, the Chteau Laurier in Ottawa and the Royal York in Toronto. By 1987, BATH FITTER moved into its own manufacturing facility and progressed into the residential market. One-piece bath and shower walls, bathtub liners, shower liners, shower enclosures, free-standing tubs and showersas well as a full-line of color-matched accessorieswere subsequently developed and introduced. This enabled BATH FITTER to meet the individual needs of homeowners as well.By the early 1990s, Bath Fitter gained more market penetration when it cultivated a network of franchises and company-owned locations selling acrylic bathtubs and shower enclosures across the United States and Canada. It was a strategy that has enabled steady expansion without sacrificing the company's high standards and commitment to excellence.Today, BATH FITTER products are manufactured in ultra-modern facilities in the U.S. and Canada. Our product line includes acrylic bathtubs, acrylic tub surrounds, shower bases, replacement shower walls, domed ceilings, shower liners, tub and shower doors, a variety of color-matched accessoriesand, most recently, wainscoting. The BATH FITTER brand has become synonymous with beautiful, affordable bathroom remodeling.
